Ann Smith

Ann lives on the coast in the East Neuk and her surroundings are a major source of inspiration. Ann uses a wide range of materials, including oil, acrylic, watercolour, charcoal and ink as well as collage. Subjects can be coastal, landscape or urban and anything in between, so there is a lot of scope. Ann is drawn to images that show imperfection, such as weathered wood and stone, and rusty metal.

Ann works with a limited palette, colours usually achieved by mixing, with browns, blues greys, and limited amounts of oranges, reds and yellows. She has no hesitation in mixing media to create a particular effect.
