Drawing Inspiration from my beautiful coastal surroundings, I incorporate natural movements and nautical energies into abstract works. Rough seas, ocean sprays, mystical haar and on calmer days the sun reflecting as a jewel on the waves are all elements that captivate me on my daily walks around the Fife coastal path.
The ebb of the tide resonates with me deeper than the aesthetic, it echoes my own creative journey. With each state in my journey I have been fortunate to explore a range of techniques.
In my time at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, where I graduated in 2017, it was sculpture and photography that best fitted the heartbeat of the city.
Upon moving to the harbour town of Crail in the East Neuk of Fife, it was paint that I fell in love with. In my paintings I explore a use of colour and textures, often layering a mix of different mediums such as acrylics, oils, plaster and gold leaf. The gestural freedom of the fluid paint being the perfect way to tell my nautical landscape love story.
