Although not originally from Scotland it has been my home for 28 years and every day provides me with creative inspiration. I suffer from hEDS (Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) and although I used to draw and paint, unfortunately I am no longer able to grip a pencil or brush well enough for this.
Nowadays I get my creative fix through designing counted cross stitch and blackwork kits. Stitching is great therapy and the act of stitching is great exercise for the hands! Using my drawing and painting experience I design classic and contemporary cross stitch and include elements of blackwork wherever I can.
I also take commissions; instead of buying a generic kit for a design, customers can have a bespoke design for exactly what they’re looking for! I usually design using DMC threads but also have a range of designs using hand dyed threads. All my kits are on my website and I run workshops at our Stitching Studio on the outskirts of Leven.
