Having worked as a political cartoonist for 20+ years, I also have an interest in illustration and artwork that is influenced by the people and places of the East Neuk of Fife, where I have lived for 20 years.
I have been drawing since I was a kid, mainly cartoons and did a small art course at Eastbourne College, before going on to work at Punch magazine. I worked as political cartoonist at the Scotsman for 15 years, also contributing to the Scotland on Sunday, Guardian and Independent amongst others.
Mainly working with acrylic, history and humour are the two main ingredients to my work. It is interesting, and a great source of ideas, to meet people who see familiar connections to themselves in my work. It is good fun and I can learn
a lot from these encounters!
