Wayne Galloway

Wayne Galloway is a self-taught ceramic artist who has a particular interest in alternative firing techniques including horsehair and feather raku, pitfiring and smokefiring . All firing materials are collected from local stables, beaches and woodlands. Texture and form are important, he creates smooth, burnished surfaces which are finished with layers of Terra Sigillata, an ancient ultra-refined slip. The results, polished with beeswax, are always invitingly tactile and have delicate and unique markings.

This year Wayne will be showing a range of new work based on the shape of the Guillemot egg, found locally on the May Isle. These pieces reflect the huge range of colours found on the eggs as well as the unique markings and distinct, conical shape.

Wayne shows his work in galleries across Scotland, teaches ceramics in Fife and exhibits at selected events including Potfest Scotland. Commissions welcome.
