2nd & 3rd November … is when East Neuk artists stage their Christmas Art & Craft Market @ the Bowhouse
- ENOS, the East Neuk artists’ collective, has hired the Bowhouse event space near to St Monans for an Arts and Crafts exhibition and market on the 2nd and 3rd of November.
- The Exhibition will be open from 10am until 4pm each day, and will feature over forty local artists displaying a diverse range of arts, crafts, design and photography. Entry is free.
- The ENOS event was first staged at the Bowhouse as a safe venue during Covid – so successfully that this is now the fourth year in which it has been held there.
After another successful summer of open studios throughout the East Neuk, the area’s local artists will be gathering together in one venue for a winter event. Over the first weekend of November, they will be found under one roof in the magnificent Bowhouse event space.
Together they will provide an unparalleled opportunity to view the varied work of the East Neuk’s local artists, from paintings, drawings, and prints to ceramics, glass and textile art works, often inspired by the picturesque East Neuk’s fishing villages and its rural scenery.
Chairperson Lavinia Kilbride of East Neuk Open Studios said:
“This has became an annual event for our group and people come from far and wide every year to see and buy our members work. Bowhouse is a great venue with lots of parking and it has a cafe and craft brewery on site, we also have additional food stands on the day. We have a few extra invited artists so there will be something for everyone and it’s a free event. It’s a great time to start your Christmas shopping or maybe see something that you may want to buy later. Our members often receive commissions and you can also pay by credit card. So put the dates in your diary we are open 10 – 4 pm Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November”.
The event was staged at the Bowhouse for the first time in 2021, as the art world was recovering from the constraints of Covid. It had the enormous advantage that a lot of people could be there without it being crowded, making it easy to move around, get a good view of the artists’ work, and make purchases – and post-Covid, those factors are still a great asset.
With Bowhouse becoming an annual event, the East Neuk artists now have special branding for the occasion – featuring the distinctive outline of the Bowhouse buildings as seen from the approach along the main road.
The ENOS website, www.eastneukopenstudios.org, has examples of artists’ work, with a wealth of information about each artist, and details about the upcoming event.
“Every artist has their own unique style, with an exciting range of paintings, prints, jewellery, cards, photographs, textiles, ceramics and glass art on sale. and with an eye to the approach of Christmas, there will be plenty of opportunities to purchase a wide range of affordable gifts and seasonal cards. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the East Neuk – it’s always a great place for a day out – and from the East Neuk villages, supporting their local artists.”
