… East Neuk artists stage their Winter Showcase event at the Bowhouse
- The East Neuk Open Studios artists group have hired the Bowhouse event space near to St Monans for their annual Christmas Arts and Crafts exhibition and market, which this year takes place on the 4th and 5th of November.
- The Exhibition will be open from 10am until 4pm each day, and will feature over forty local artists displaying a diverse range of arts, crafts, design and photography. Entry is free.
- Founded in 2003, this is the twentieth anniversary year for the ENOS artists, and the third year in which they have held a November event at the Bowhouse venue.
After another successful summer of open studios throughout the East Neuk, the area’s local artists will be gathering together in one venue for a winter event. Over the first weekend of November, they will be found under one roof in the magnificent Bowhouse event space.
Together they will provide an unparalleled opportunity to view the varied work of the East Neuk’s local artists, from paintings, drawings, and prints to ceramics, glass and textile art works, often inspired by the picturesque East Neuk’s fishing villages and its rural scenery.
With Bowhouse becoming an annual event, the East Neuk artists have also created some new branding for the occasion – featuring the distinctive outline of the Bowhouse buildings as seen from the approach along the main road (image attached). These new signs will join existing banners for the week preceding the event, to help to maximise awareness of the event.
“We staged this event for the first time at the Bowhouse in 2021, as the art world was recovering from the constraints of Covid. It was great at that time, because there can be a lot of people there without it feeling crowded, making it easy to move around, get a good view of the artists’ work, and make purchases – and post-Covid, those factors are still a great asset to us. Following the success of our first event, we went back last year – and this year will be our third Winter Showcase to be held there. And this year is also another milestone for us, since the first East Neuk Open Studios event took place in 2003, making this our twentieth anniversary year.
“Our website has examples of artists’ work, with a wealth of information about each artist. Every artist has their own unique style, with an exciting range of paintings, prints, jewellery, cards, photographs, textiles, ceramics and glass art on sale. and with an eye to the approach of Christmas, there will be plenty of opportunities to purchase a wide range of affordable gifts and seasonal cards. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the East Neuk – it’s always a great place for a day out – and from the East Neuk villages, supporting their local artists.”
“As usual, we will also be advertising the event on social media and with leaflets, and we hope that people will share the event details online and by word of mouth.”
