Wayne Galloway is a ceramic artist with a particular interest in alternative firing techniques including pitfiring, smokefiring and horsehair & feather raku – resulting in delicate and unique markings.
Texture is important, he creates smooth, burnished surfaces which are finished with layers of terra sigillata, an ancient ultra-refined slip. The resulting pieces, polished with beeswax, are always invitingly tactile.
Recent work explores the unique form of the guillemot egg. Laid on cliff ledges, each bird produces colourful eggs which have strong patterns.
Wayne shows his work at galleries across Scotland and exhibits at selected events including Potfest Scotland.
