Press Release: 8th November 2019
The East Neuk’s Open Studio artists will be leaving their studios to gather together in one venue for a weekend in November – so art lovers who didn’t manage to complete the annual East Neuk summer art trail can now see works by forty-five ENOS artists, all in one exhibition, at the East Neuk Winter Showcase Exhibition, in Pittenweem on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th.
The exhibition’s dazzling array of the East Neuk’s talented artists, designers and makers will be found in the Parish Church Hall on James Street, which is the main road through Pittenweem.
“The summer is a great time to stroll around from venue to venue, exploring the beautiful East Neuk villages as you go,” said ENOS Secretary Sheila Caldwell, “and it can look great in winter too, but it is a little colder, and of course, in the run up to Christmas, people’s weekends are often a little busier … which is why we are offering a warm welcome in one venue, bringing forty-five of our artists together for the event, making it easier for people to view the wide range of artwork on display – and maybe do a little Christmas shopping, with lots of original works, prints and cards available to buy. We are open from 10.30am – 4.30pm each day, and we have an exhibition café offering teas, coffee and wonderful home-baking.”
The arts and crafts on display include a wide range of subjects in drawings, paintings, mixed media, and photographs; designer fabrics, needle felted animals and cross-stitched designs; and ornaments and jewellery made using material such driftwood and found objects, and techniques such as metals cast in beach sand and pottery fired in pits.
The East Neuk Open Studios website has more information about the Winter Showcase and future events; and it includes a directory of East Neuk artists with examples of their work. People can also follow ENOS on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
