St Monans may not be quite as famous as neighbouring East Neuk villages, but it has a rich heritage (including fishing and boat building) and there is no shortage of subjects in and around the village for artists and photographers, with an iconic Auld Kirk (star of TV and film), a ruined castle, a windmill with salt pans, and a Stevenson designed harbour with an idiosyncratic breakwater, known locally as “The Blocks”, and internationally as “The Zigzag Pier”, all of which you will find featured in the work of artists throughout the East Neuk.
